Ce l\u00e9gendaire chemin de fer \u00e0 voie \u00e9troite du sud de la Suisse c\u00e9l\u00e8bre son centenaire en 2023\/24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jusqu\u2019au d\u00e9but du XXe&nbsp;si\u00e8cle, aucune route partant de Locarno ou de Domodossola ne permettait de rejoindre la vall\u00e9e des Centovalli depuis le val Vigezzo, ni inversement. Seul un sentier muletier reliait les deux vall\u00e9es jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019ouverture d\u2019une route en&nbsp;1907. Une voie de chemin de fer fut alors \u00e9galement envisag\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Les <em>Ferrovie Regionali Ticinesi (FRT)<\/em> furent fond\u00e9es en Suisse en&nbsp;1909, suivies en 1912 par la <em>Societ\u00e0 Subalpina di Imprese Ferroviarie (SSIF)<\/em> en Italie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les travaux prirent du retard en raison de probl\u00e8mes financiers.
