Fin 1978, apr\u00e8s plus de trente ann\u00e9es de silence, Karski accepte d\u2019\u00eatre film\u00e9 \u00e0 son domicile pendant deux jours. Dans Shoah (1985), Claude Lanzmann octroie trente-neuf minutes \u00e0 ce t\u00e9moignage. En 2010, le r\u00e9alisateur a repris l\u2019entretien original pour r\u00e9aliser un nouveau film, Le Rapport Karski, diffus\u00e9 sur la cha\u00eene franco-allemande Arte. \u00c0 vingt-cinq ans d\u2019intervalle, Shoah et Le Rapport Karski ont \u00e9t\u00e9 per\u00e7us comme des documentaires, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire comme des films donnant un acc\u00e8s le plus direct possible aux paroles des t\u00e9moins. Si, dans les deux cas, le r\u00e9alisateur affirme son souhait de transmettre la \u00ab\u2009v\u00e9rit\u00e9\u2009\u00bb, tant les propos qu\u2019il a tenus au sujet de ses films que les choix visuels qu\u2019il a effectu\u00e9s diff\u00e8rent.
