Pour <em>La Vie des id\u00e9es<\/em>, Pierre Merle fait une synth\u00e8se des conclusions de ces travaux au moment o\u00f9 les institutions en France s\u2019emparent de la question et propose des pistes pour renouveler les pratiques d\u2019\u00e9valuation des \u00e9l\u00e8ves.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les recherches sur la notation, men\u00e9es depuis plusieurs dizaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es, aboutissent \u00e0 au moins cinq r\u00e9sultats consensuels dans la communaut\u00e9 scientifique\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Les notes ne mesurent pas de fa\u00e7on pr\u00e9cise les comp\u00e9tences des \u00e9l\u00e8ves.<\/li>\n<li>Les recherches sur la notation ont \u00e9galement montr\u00e9 l\u2019existence de\u00a0<i>biais sociaux de notation<\/i>.<\/li>\n<li>Dans un certain nombre de discours, la notation aurait pour vertu de favoriser une (saine) \u00e9mulation, une comp\u00e9tition entre \u00e9l\u00e8ves, indispensable \u00e0 la motivation. Ce discours rel\u00e8ve le plus souvent de la\u00a0<i>preuve par soi<\/i>\u00a0: ce qui est v\u00e9cu personnellement est assimil\u00e9 \u00e0 une situation commune.<\/li>\n<li>Un autre discours favorable \u00e0 la notation consiste \u00e0 affirmer que les \u00e9l\u00e8ves souhaitent conna\u00eetre leur niveau scolaire, veulent savoir o\u00f9 ils se situent par rapport aux autres. Cette affirmation, souvent ressass\u00e9e, est aussi discutable que la pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente.<\/li>\n<li>Enfin, un dernier discours affirme que la notation permet d\u2019apprendre. De fait, les professeurs sont souvent confront\u00e9s \u00e0 cette question classique des \u00e9l\u00e8ves\u00a0: <em>\u00ab\u00a0ce travail sera-t-il not\u00e9\u00a0?\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> et, en l\u2019absence de note, le travail fourni est souvent r\u00e9duit, voire inexistant. D\u00e9duire de cette situation scolaire ordinaire que la note est n\u00e9cessaire aux apprentissages revient \u00e0 confondre la cause et la cons\u00e9quence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A partir de ces constats, Pierre Merle s&rsquo;int\u00e9resse aux changements envisageables et propose six pistes :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Pr\u00e9server l\u2019anonymat social et scolaire de l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve<\/li>\n<li>Pr\u00e9f\u00e9rer une \u00e9valuation formative \u00e0 une \u00e9valuation sommative<\/li>\n<li>Int\u00e9grer l\u2019\u00e9valuation dans le processus d\u2019apprentissage<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Supprimer les \u00ab\u00a0comparaisons sociales forc\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb<\/li>\n<li>Fonder l\u2019\u00e9valuation sur des comp\u00e9tences et connaissances standardis\u00e9es<\/li>\n<li>Construire une synergie entre les \u00e9valuations des \u00e9l\u00e8ves et celles des \u00e9tablissements<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Son\u00a0article d\u00e9veloppe chacun des 11 points ci-dessus.
