La conf\u00e9rence inaugurale \u00e9tait assur\u00e9e par\u00a0Carla Peck de University of Alberta (twitter : @cpeck3).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le r\u00e9sum\u00e9 de son intervention dans le livret du congr\u00e8s :\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n<em>\u00ab\u00a0 L&rsquo;\u00e9ducation \u00e0 la citoyennet\u00e9, dont l&rsquo;objectif central est la cr\u00e9ation de \u00ab\u00a0bons\u00a0\u00bb citoyens, est, depuis tr\u00e8s longtemps, une justification centrale de l&rsquo;enseignement de l&rsquo;histoire. Les politiciens, les experts et les \u00e9ducateurs d\u00e9plorent r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement le manque (per\u00e7u) d&rsquo;engagement des jeunes dans des activit\u00e9s citoyennes comme le vote et la participation \u00e0 des activit\u00e9s politiques formelles, et d\u00e9signent souvent les d\u00e9ficiences de la connaissance historique des jeunes comme une cause centrale de ce d\u00e9sengagement. Mais, quelle preuve existe-t-il que \u00ab\u00a0plus d&rsquo;histoire\u00a0\u00bb m\u00e8ne en fait \u00e0 de \u00ab\u00a0bons\u00a0\u00bb citoyens ? Certaines approches de l&rsquo;enseignement de l&rsquo;histoire pourraient-elles \u00eatre plus efficaces que d&rsquo;autres pour promouvoir l&rsquo;engagement critique et actif des citoyens ? Et si oui, comment pourrions-nous le savoir ?\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Le r\u00e9sum\u00e9 du live tweet de la conf\u00e9rence :\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lyonelkaufmann\/status\/1004281611154804736?s=20\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/lyonelkaufmann\/status\/1004281611154804736?s=20<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quelques points saillants de sa conf\u00e9rence :<\/p>\n<p>En premier lieu concernant nos connaissances sur ce que les jeunes connaissent \u00e0 propos de leur \u00ab\u00a0 histoire nationale\u00a0\u00bb \u00a0:\u00a0<em>\u00ab\u00a0We don&rsquo;t actually know what youth know about their nation&rsquo;s history\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>.\u00a0Cependant, cette absence de donn\u00e9es sur ce que savent les jeunes aujourd\u2019hui de leur \u00ab\u00a0histoire nationale\u00a0\u00bb \u00a0n&#8217;emp\u00eachent pas les journaux de se lamenter r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement que les jeunes ne savent rien. Un exemple :<em> \u00ab\u00a0Our ignorant kids don&rsquo;t know how history got us to where we are today\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>. Il en d\u00e9coule une demande de \u00ab\u00a0plus d\u2019histoire\u00a0\u00bb de la part des m\u00e9dias. Pour Carla Peck, cette demande illustre leur mauvaise compr\u00e9hension de ce qu&rsquo;est l&rsquo;histoire, vue par les m\u00e9dias et le monde politique comme une accumulation de faits plut\u00f4t qu&rsquo;une discipline vivante engag\u00e9e dans des d\u00e9marches d&rsquo;enqu\u00eate, offrant des points de vues multiples et probl\u00e9matisant l\u2019histoire.<\/p>\n<p>Concernant la compr\u00e9hension historique des \u00e9l\u00e8ve (\u00ab\u00a0 Historical understanding\u00a0\u00bb), \u00a0la plupart des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 ce propos sont r\u00e9gionales, faite \u00e0 petite \u00e9chelle et \u00e0 un moment pr\u00e9cis (snapshot) alors qu&rsquo;il serait n\u00e9cessaire d\u2019entreprendre et de disposer d&rsquo;\u00e9tudes longitudinales et \u00e0 large \u00e9chelle.<\/p>\n<p>Mais<em> \u00ab\u00a0\u00a0How might a historical thinking pedagogy contribute to the development of citizenship competencies?\u00a0\u00bb. <\/em>Carla Peck propose\u00a0trois mod\u00e8les de formation du citoyen en lien avec l\u2019enseignement de l\u2019histoire.
