Au travers de plusieurs photographies du 20e si\u00e8cle ou iconiques de notre imaginaire collectif comme des images de la guerre du Vietnam, cette intervention interroge autant l&rsquo;enseignant d&rsquo;histoire que tout en chacun. Je vous livre l&rsquo;introduction de l&rsquo;article.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(<i>Article publi\u00e9 par Andr\u00e9\u00a0Gunthert dans L\u2019El\u00e9phant, #24<\/i>) Invit\u00e9 au festival des Rencontres d\u2019Arles 2018, \u00e0 l\u2019occasion du cinquantenaire de mai 68, l\u2019ic\u00f4ne du mouvement \u00e9tudiant Daniel Cohn-Bendit y \u00e9voque le \u00abpouvoir des images\u00bb, comme celles de la guerre du Vietnam, qui ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 mobiliser l\u2019opinion publique am\u00e9ricaine et \u00abont fait perdre la guerre de l\u2019int\u00e9rieur\u00a0\u00bb. \u00abLa photo du petit Aylan Kurdi sur la plage de Bodrum, explique-t-il, a boulevers\u00e9 le monde et a sans doute jou\u00e9 aussi dans la d\u00e9cision d\u2019Angela Merkel d\u2019ouvrir les fronti\u00e8res de l\u2019Allemagne aux migrants en septembre 2015.\u00bb<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/imagesociale.fr\/2022\/lemonde\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/imagesociale.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/lemonde.jpg?w=407&amp;h=365\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">Le Monde, 03\/09\/2015.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Une image peut-elle arr\u00eater une guerre, changer le cours de l\u2019actualit\u00e9? Que la vision d\u2019un \u00e9v\u00e9nement malheureux puisse nous faire horreur, et ainsi affecter notre opinion, est une id\u00e9e largement r\u00e9pandue, qui ne semble pas extravagante. Mais cette conviction repose sur une th\u00e9orie implicite de l\u2019image. Alors que le langage s\u2019adresse \u00e0 la raison, les images exciteraient nos \u00e9motions. Plus s\u00e9duisantes que l\u2019\u00e9crit, elles seraient l\u2019instrument d\u2019une influence occulte, de l\u2019ordre de la suggestion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/imagesociale.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/NewYorkTimes_161215.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/imagesociale.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/NewYorkTimes_161215.png?resize=690%2C524\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pourtant, les choses ne sont pas si simples. En d\u00e9cembre 2016, le <em>New York Times<\/em> s\u2019alarme: malgr\u00e9 la diffusion des images terribles de la destruction d\u2019Alep en Syrie, l\u2019opinion publique occidentale semble rester inerte.\u00a0\u00abS\u2019il vous pla\u00eet, sauvez-nous, merci!\u00bb, dit la vid\u00e9o de la petite Bana Alabed, 7 ans, qui s\u2019adresse \u00e0 nous les yeux dans les yeux. On ne peut donc pas \u00e9voquer un d\u00e9ficit \u00e9motionnel. Est-ce parce que les victimes sont musulmanes, s\u2019interroge le quotidien? Est-ce \u00e0 cause des r\u00e9seaux sociaux, qui enchev\u00eatrent les informations et \u00e9moussent notre capacit\u00e9 de r\u00e9action?
