Les pages de cette grande encyclop\u00e9die furent imprim\u00e9es voil\u00e0 250 ans tout juste, \u00e0 \u00c9dimbourg. Bel hommage.<\/p>\n<p>De toute \u00e9vidence, la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition des textes mettait en avant une certaine subjectivit\u00e9 \u00e9cossaise, avec deux th\u00e8mes de pr\u00e9dilection\u00a0: la science moderne et l\u2019identit\u00e9 locale.<\/p>\n<p>Des gravures \u00e9voquant le travail des sages femmes avaient d\u2019ailleurs scandalis\u00e9 les lecteurs, et furent par la suite arrach\u00e9es de tous les exemplaires, sur ordre de la Couronne.
